Sāw Mpféä Nêōw (/sɔ̄ː/ /mpʰi̋ːæ/ [off white] [fruit]) is a subtropical Town located in the Gīmōthyǎvy Region of the Confederation of Goblin Tribes.

The name Sāw Mpféä Nêōw is derived from the Goblin language, as Sāw Mpféä Nêōw was founded by Vûftāy Ha̋chīb 'Delux Sugar' Vúnvoīs Rë̌ Vú̄̄kī Vúnvoīs Ca̋mbó̄, who was culturaly Goblin.

Climate

Sāw Mpféä Nêōw has a yearly average temperature of 13°C (55°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a cool 11°C (51°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 16°C (60°F). Sāw Mpféä Nêōw receives an average of 217 cm/y (85 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Sāw Mpféä Nêōw covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 972 m (3188 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Sāw Mpféä Nêōw was founded durring the late 13th century in winter of the year 1170, by Vûftāy Ha̋chīb 'Delux Sugar' Vúnvoīs Rë̌ Vú̄̄kī Vúnvoīs Ca̋mbó̄. The establishment of Sāw Mpféä Nêōw was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Vûftāy Ha̋chīb 'Delux Sugar' Vúnvoīs Rë̌ Vú̄̄kī Vúnvoīs Ca̋mbó̄ struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Sāw Mpféä Nêōw as a prison colony.

Sāw Mpféä Nêōw was built using the conventions of Goblin durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Sāw Mpféä Nêōw is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Sāw Mpféä Nêōw is buildings are arranged arround a network of restrictive flagstone streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town has a defencive wall made from querried stone. The wall is equipped with a full set of battlments but the nature of its construction methodology leaves it somewhat vulnerable to siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. The cost-cutting-focused defences has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.

The first thing you notice about Sāw Mpféä Nêōw is the large sign at the entrance welcoming you to their humble town. Children come up to you and say hi, some asking if you’ve fought any big monsters, and others just zipping away after their hello. The adults are much the same. By the time you’ve made it a significant way into the town you’ve been invited to a tavern for a pint to drink in exchange for news of the world. You’ve also had no less than three older women give you a sweetroll and direct your attention to their still unmarried children. It would be creepy if it wasn't so sincere.

Civic Infrastructure

Sāw Mpféä Nêōw has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Sāw Mpféä Nêōw has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Sāw Mpféä Nêōw's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Sāw Mpféä Nêōw possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Sāw Mpféä Nêōw has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Sāw Mpféä Nêōw has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Sāw Mpféä Nêōw's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its functional shapes, abstract shapes used sparingly for decor, simple color schemes, holistic design, and basic industrial materials. Its simple designs were created to be beautiful, functional, and mass-producible. The style used little to no embellishment or ornamentation, instead drawing attention to the streamlined design, such as flat roofs to create a simple, geometric look. The simplicity masks the style's nearly sinister functionality, as every last feature is designed to guide the people living in the building in how to make the most efficient use of the structure.

Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is long in Sāw Mpféä Nêōw.

The Ice Elemental, Medium near Sāw Mpféä Nêōw are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Sāw Mpféä Nêōw's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Elven High Magic energies of tier 3 via throat chanting.
